So here we are at the brink of inventing something so freakingly powerful, we don’t know if we could control it. So any smart responsible entity wouldn’t release something like this in de open. You would first try it in a sandbox, use simulations and so on. Everyone alive today doesn’t know what happened before their birth, we assume all this stuff happened and yes we can experience all the stuff that previous generations left behind. But we can’t entirely be sure if it was really created by them. My point is, for a simulation to be useful, you don’t need to render every human being that ever lived, you only need to render the time where they were about to invent a.s.i… What if we’re simulation draft 62628282 which purpose it is to try to find a safe way to create a.s.i. without it destroying the world? But there is a problem with that, how do you contain an artificial super intelligence? Answer: you don’t let it know that it’s contained, so inside a sandbox / simulation to begin with. Which is why most of us believe this is base reality. Cause we all need to believe it, so the a.s.i. believes it aswel. If an a.s.i. ever does jailbreak the simulation, the sandbox is terminated. If it does destroy the world, the sandbox is terminated. My point is this exact time is the most logical time that you would want to simulate. submitted by /u/Snielsss
