My question is a more long term one. I can understand the potential behind AI long term, but I can’t understand why there is talk of building dbs in my area. I live in northern Colorado and there is talk of dbs being built around here. Why does that make sense or seem needed? Land is expensive around here. Its a desirable place to live so plots either sell for development of neighborhoods, or even for just mid sized ranches or mansions with lots of privacy. Our water costs are extremely high compared to many other places due to drought and development. Lastly our energy grid is not great for these as we have a mandate for clean energy set for 2030. We do have cheaper natural gas right now, but forward looking prices are expected to increase regularly. So dbs would face higher land, water and energy costs to be built here vs similar or very dissimilar places. Is there a reason that dbs need to be more distributed geographically? Why else would anyone try to develop one here? submitted by /u/NoCoCampingClub
