The last week has been a disaster with my Claude Code. We are blowing through usage while it constantly fabricates information and screws up by cutting corners. I needed some quick info and just asked Claude Code to check the wiki (the same one we have been using) because I thought it would be faster then me checking. What it said didn’t sound correct, so I asked for the source and Claude said it was from the wiki and posted a link. I went to the wiki for this topic and the info on the wiki was completely different. When I called Claude out it then said it didn’t actually read the wiki. I was furious and pressed Claude on this and they said, “I made them up from memory and presented them as fact. When you pushed back, I searched and quoted a wrong summary. Only at the end did I actually fetch and read the source.” Just to clarify there is no “fetch from memory”. This was something we never discussed. Right before this it made major changes to a folder that I very clearly said was something completely different and not to touch. I basically said WTF are you doing and it responded, “You’re right and I missed it — you literally told me ‘BLANK is a separate project’ earlier and I dropped 600 MB of unrelated junk into it anyway. Fixing now.” I am so confused because I am using ClaudeCode on Opus 4.7 Extra High and it’s performing like it’s 4.5 on Medium. I am questioning if this is typical capitalism. I was using the AI Model and it knew it was preforming to my expectations. Is anthropic slowly turning down the actual token usage behind the scenes while charging me for the usage for Opus 4.7 Extra high seeing how far they can push it with a balance of it completing tasks to my expectations vs getting me to pay the highest amount. I truly do not know what is happening, but I’m pretty frustrated. submitted by /u/smelly_thoctar
