A new model called Ring-2.6-1T just launched, and the part that stood out to me wasn’t just the size. The pitch is basically:
- trillion-parameter flagship reasoning model
- stronger agent workflow / multi-step execution
- better tool use, long-context planning, and task coordination
- open-source SOTA positioning on agent-style evals like PinchBench and ClawEval
- explicit mention of Claude Code compatibility in coding-agent workflows The more interesting part is that they also added adjustable Reasoning Effort modes:
- high → lower token overhead, faster multi-step execution, meant for default agent workflows
- xhigh → more reasoning budget for harder math / research / complex logic tasks That feels like a pretty relevant direction for coding-agent use, because not every task inside a Claude Code-style loop needs the same amount of thinking. Sometimes you want deeper planning, but a lot of the time you just want the model to stay scoped, use tools cleanly, and get through the task without burning tokens explaining itself. They’re also opening a one-week free developer trial through May 15. I’m curious what people here would actually want to validate first in a Claude Code style environment:
- edit quality?
- tool-call reliability?
- retry drift?
- token burn per resolved task?
- long-session stability?
