I’m a 20-year-old college student and I don’t really have savings. Whenever I have extra money, I usually spend it on things like traveling, gym membership, good food, and experiences with friends and my GF. I prioritize staying fit, eating well, and making memories. I genuinely believe that I’m only going to be this young once, and I don’t want to look back at my 20s feeling like I only stressed about money. At the same time, I see a lot of advice online saying: “Start investing early. “Build savings ASAP.” “If you’re not thinking long-term, you’re behind.” It makes me wonder if I’m being irresponsible or messing this up. For context, I’m not in debt, I’m not borrowing money to fund my lifestyle, and I still focus on school and my future career (planning to go into medschool someday). I just don’t aggressively save. I kind of operate on a “build experiences now, build wealth later” mindset. submitted by /u/torukzan
