Not sure if this is allowed here, but my partners GP suspects he has depression. So i’d like to know, for all the men here with high functioning depression, how does it feel? My partner owns his own business and has many clients that he is responsible for. He loves his job but puts an extreme amount of pressure on himself to be more successful, and because of this he is often burnt out and thinks he’s behind in life even though he’s not. He is currently seeing a psychologist for burnout. The other day while he was driving he fell asleep while at a red light, so I told him to see his GP asap who then said it sounded like he had high functioning depression and referred him to a psychiatrist to see if he should start antidepressants. Tonight he brought it up with me in conversation so I asked him if he feels sad, or if he’s lost interest in things that make him happy like his job etc he said no he doesn’t feel sad he just feels under pressure to constantly be doing more. When I was a teen I dealt with severe depression so I know what it’s like, he’s never had depression before, and I’m just worried about him submitted by /u/Live_Broccoli_2180
