The “Claude Code vs Codex” question has stopped being an opinion piece and started being a data problem. The two tools have been out long enough that practitioners have shipped real products, hit real walls, and posted about it in detail. So I did the work that any reasonable practitioner would do before betting their stack on one over the other: Using AI, I pulled 202 relevant verbatim quotes from Reddit threads spanning over 10,000 comments, tagged every one of them by category, winner, and specific claim, and ran the numbers.
