I’m wondering if other men feel that watching recent movies and series, where everyone look handsome, has a negative impact on their self-esteem ? I realized this today when looking at the cast for the future Harry Potter series: In the old movies, most roles have actors looking like normal people. But the new cast only features handsome people, even for roles like the Dursley family (Harry’s caretakers). Made me realize that in every production I watch it’s the same. I feel ugly. People who like me tell me that I’m not, but I have a hard time believing them. Part of the problem is probably due to my perception of myself, but even so, it’s still a problem. I’m working on it and I’m wondering if I could improve my self-esteem by stopping to watch recent movies and TV shows entirely, because actors nowadays are so handsome, and maybe my perception of what a normal person looks like is biased because of this. For context I watch like 4-5 series episodes and one movie per week on average, and I don’t use social networks beside Reddit. submitted by /u/Shoddy-Horse3220
