Since Opus 4.7 im not able to see the thinking tokens anymore in VSCode Claude Code extension. While Claude is working, I usually read its thinking steps and now its such a blackbox. I hate to just stare at “Thinking…”. I feel disconnected and on the sideline. I want to be involved. Its so useful to be able to because:
- I can see when it skips something because X
- I can see if it strugles to understand something and I can help connect the dots
- I can also learn something about my codebase since i less and less read actual code
- I can mentally prepare my next prompt based on its Thinking while i “wait”. Anyone else feels this way? I hope someone of Claude team reads this. submitted by /u/snarfi
