I’ve been trying to upgrade from Pro to Max (20x) for two days. Every attempt gives the same error:
"Payment failed. Please try again later. If the problem persists, contact support at https://support.anthropic.com/ " What I’ve tried:
- 4 different credit cards from 4 different banks
- Called all 4 banks — each confirmed the transaction never reached them and they are not blocking it
- Cleared browser cache, tried incognito, disconnected Stripe Link, entered card details manually
- Contacted support chat twice — Fin loops generic troubleshooting and won’t connect to a human
- Emailed [ support@anthropic.com ](mailto: support@anthropic.com ) directly, waiting on a response This looks like the same void_invoice race condition documented in GitHub issues #55982, #55917, #55266, #56281, and #57122 — where Stripe cancels the PaymentIntent server-side before checkout can complete. The bug is specific to the upgrade/proration flow, not new subscriptions. I can’t use the mobile app workaround (email mismatch between my Claude account and Google account) and I can’t cancel Pro and resubscribe fresh because I need to keep my subscription active. Has anyone found a working fix for this? Has anyone actually gotten through to a human at Anthropic support for a billing issue? submitted by /u/dwzm1
