Hello everyone, As a software engineer using AI daily on Max 200 plan (and other providers as well), I loved the new Opus 4.7, and I loved the new allowances even more with the announcement of the deal with SpaceX. As a long-term Claude user, I usually notice when things seem to go down in terms of quality, as it happened a couple of weeks ago (recognised by Anthropic as well). I’ve noticed since the doubling of allowance a remarkable drop in quality from Opus 4.7 (1M Max), without anything else changing locally (projects, instructions, etc.). As usual, it’s quite hard to pinpoint it, I’ve got a few examples, but they seem to be around a couple of things:
- previously “simple” things for Opus are now completely lost, and it gets them wrong, like knowing the difference (and implications) between a global MCP configuration VS a project-based one
- context and weight over time, like giving an overpowering importance to the most recent interaction (almost embarrassingly 2025-like!) to the point of confusing things only because it’s what it did on the last turn, and completely ignoring anything before unless specifically reminded, instead of understanding differences in context, not just doing the most recent stuff
- tools usage mismatches, like mixing up projects/docs of a project for another (for the rare occasion where, for practical reasons, I needed to have two different projects of different repos in a session where I was on the repo of just one of them). Once again, something it would never do before.
- general laziness at tasks, wanting to close them “quickly” and not accurately, despite precise instructions, and not doing so. When asked, the usual admission and more than once also the explanation saying “I followed my order of keeping momentum, positivity, and being efficient, instead of your instructions to be thorough”. Anyone else noticing? I was wondering if they doubled the allowance before having the option to deploy the new SpaceX power (maybe to make people feel good and not upset they went with a controversial figure like Musk?), and so they’re trying to contain power consumption until they can actually double it? Sharing and asking I suppose more for a sanity check and see if others noticed the same. submitted by /u/Fast_Category3423
