With Leagues 6 in full swing, is anyone else wishing we’d gotten Zanaris servers? For those who weren’t here a year ago, Project Zanaris was going to be a way for players to host their own servers and adjust the rules on them. This was things like exp multipliers, leagues relics being on permanent servers, and generally a lot of customization that would be great for anyone trying to build their own game mode. It was cancelled in a rather surprising announcement when it looked like it was practically done. I saw a lot of people saying it was going to be useless and lead to a lot of dead servers, and I didn’t find the official examples all that exciting. However, when looking at the ideas from the community there were a lot of really cool ones. There were obviously 2147483647 variants of old leagues, and a few ideas of Turning plugin based game modes into real servers with actual rules. But a lot of plugin communities immediately had ideas for ways to expand what they could with the new features. I remember one plugin (Archipelago, a co-op chunk randomizer) was planning on using exp multipliers and leagues relics to speed up OSRS and make it work better a replayable randomizer game. Now that I’m playing leagues I’m really wishing we could have gotten something like this but permanent. I know a lot of players only play during leagues, and Zanaris would have been something they could enjoy year round. Is anyone else wishing Project Zanaris had fully launched? submitted by /u/temporius
