Not talking about useless degrees or dead-end jobs. I mean: * High-demand trades (electrician, HVAC, welding, lineman, etc.) VS * High-demand degrees (engineering, nursing, accounting, cybersecurity, etc.) Trades seem to offer: * Less debt * Faster income * Strong demand * Opportunity to start a business But marketable degrees can offer: * Higher long-term ceiling * Less wear on the body * More remote/work-from-home options * Better career flexibility It feels like the REAL answer is: “Pick something in demand and avoid massive debt.” But I’m curious what people here actually think. If you could restart in 2026: * Would you choose a trade or a degree? * Which careers are ACTUALLY paying well right now? * Any regrets? * Which path has the better long-term future? submitted by /u/Responsible-Net8594
