I am a maxed player who has the Verzik CA helmet. This isn’t that impressive in 2026, but I’m mentioning it because it gives a little context when I say that learning CoX in 2025 was one of the most frustrating and un-fun experiences I’ve ever had in this game. Having to rely on an outside service like We Do Raids, where you essentially have to beg for people to take learners, alongside the social friction of worrying that you’re influencing the raid in a positive way, was way worse than 99 runecrafting. I am not socially anxious. I just think the friction and difficulty in an mmo should come from the mechanics and the bosses, not from having to join some discord and ingratiate myself with the people there. It’s also telling that while ToB is near universally praised for its mechanics, it’s by far the least popular raid - WDR doesn’t even do TOB learners at the moment, and finding a cc that is both non-sweaty but also willing to teach is difficult and, once again, relies on the player to go to some discord and hope for the best. The game is already facing an uphill struggle with group content. The game is basically 600 hours of solo content followed by end-game group pvm, so of course many players find this particular part of the game difficult. The thing is, I want more group content in the game. It’s the most fun part of the game, and its what makes the game an mmo. However, I think we need to improve the grouping experience in some way. Obviously don’t take away the ability for a group of friends to just raid with the boys, but there should be an option where we don’t have to rely on things like WDR. With Raids 4 upcoming, I really think Jagex should solve this problem before launch so more people can enjoy it in groups instead of most people doing it as solo content like TOA. Imagine a board at each raid that allows you to designate yourself as a Learner/Experienced/Expert at the content based on KC that allows you to inspect other players stats and gear before accepting them. At the very least, the current grouping is just inconsistent. The way you make a party in CoX is so unintuitive compared to ToA, which is different than how you make a party in ToB, which is different than how you make a party in Barbarian Assault, etc etc. Standardizing this would at least give SOME consistency. Wanting to improve grouping is not the same thing as wanting to eliminate the social aspect of the game. submitted by /u/smellygirlmillie
