I like Claude Code, it’s the first coding tool I’ve used and it’s what brought me into this AI stuff. (And tbh that little spider logo is kinda funny) Claude Code is really convenient to use and it feels very nice overall. (Apart from that glitchy + token blowing up era) Recently I’ve been wanting to try other harnesses and I’ve landed on Pi, the simplicity of it kind of won me over. It feels very lean. The system prompts are very minimal and you can customize/override them easily. Something interesting that the creator said and the reason why I wanted to try is that he and others who use Claude without Claude Code never felt the model nerfed and things like that, but that’s probably because they use the API and not the sub. I’ve created an OpenRouter account so I can have access to a whole lot of models, including the dirt cheap chinese ones and had a couple of sessions with Claude already and honestly it felt great. Pi seems to use way less tokens than Claude Code does and it led me to have somewhat lengthy session of going back and forth on a idea for around 2$. Have you guys tried Claude without Claude Code? Have you tried something like Pi/OpenCode? Personally I’m going with a workflow where Claude is a brainstorming pattern, create an implementation plan out of that session with broken down tasks and hand over the implementation itself to something like Kimi. And no I have absolutely 0 interests in ChatGPT/Codex, I couldn’t care less about 5.5 being the best model on the market right now. submitted by /u/LumonScience
