Hi everyone. I need an advise. I live with my wife (not employed) in Vaud and I own a property in Spain (my home). I pay property taxes there and all my rent money goes to my parents because I still own them. Recently, I received a letter to pay 6k CHF Vaud cantonal wealth tax based on a market estimation of my property in Spain of 100k Euros for the next year, all at once. I can prove that the rental income doesn’t come into my pocket, show the transfers, maintenance and administrative payments in Spain. Also, the cadastre value of the property is way less than this estimation. The authorities also informed that they can tax up to 6% of the property value. I knew that considering the double taxation treaties, the property tax is payed in the country where the property is. Now I have to pay for my property twice according to this wealth tax. This is the first time I receive such letter. Additionally, I knew that the calculation for wealth tax for property is based on the cadastre value and not a market estimation. We simply don’t have this money. We live a modest life here and we don’t even manage to save money, as a matter of fact. Is anyone in a similar situation? Can you guide on what can be done? Big thank you. 🙌 submitted by /u/Ok-Cauliflower-9143
