This is not meant to spark arguments or toss insults at each other. I’m liberal, from a liberal/socialist country. With US politics, I’ve had topics that brought me closer to centrist, but never voted for Trump. That being said, I can understand why people did. There is certainly an appeal to the drastic change he promised. Even good presidents rarely enact things that directly change our individuals lives for the better in a noticeable way. So the concept of non-politician in office, saying he’ll switch things up and run it like a business instead of the endless bureaucracy sounds very enticing, especially if you’re in a difficult position, feeling like you have nothing to lose. I’m not one of those liberals shouting at the sky and everyone on the streets “all Trump voters are idiots!” Biden was pretty un-problematic but underwhelming and under-delivered. Kamala was just a bad choice from the jump. I believe there are no right and wrong sides. But with how out of control things seem to be getting: multiple people I know, small business owners who had to close up shop because of the tariff nonsense, these horrifying ICE situations, Venezuela, Iran, defacing historical cites with his name and face and trash talk engravings on White House presidential portraits, gas, my 401k, savings, investments, retirement all feeling more unstable than I ever anticipated. So many things. Again, I’m not judging. I mostly just want to understand how he got your vote and support, and was that moment or incident where he lost it? Or was it a series of moments and incidents? And for those who still support him, why? No judgment, but what keeps you having faith in him despite all the data and evidence supporting that you shouldn’t? submitted by /u/KrispyKingTheProphet
