Just today I had a decent conversation with a lady I met in public, by the end of the conversation she suggested to give her my social media so I did. About two hours later when Im finally relaxed at home I hop on instagram and I get slammed with 10 different reels about guys picking up women with witty lines, Other reels about personal things we talked about, hateful videos about women gold diggers and men only caring about sex. Like wtf is this. I told her my job(which I love) and i get negative videos about it, she told me her age and I got videos about how life at xx years old sucks. Mind you I havent dated in awhile and only saw her as a cool friend at the moment yet social media is painting different narratives about the stuff we talked about. Im sure shes getting suggested the same videos which makes me think how cockblocking IG actually is for new people meeting. This isnt the first time either, ive seen stuff like this happening for about 2+ years during relationships which made me delete tiktok and only stick with instagram because of friends submitted by /u/dbootywarrior

Things like this are why I’ve abandoned all social media. About the only things I do are occasional Lemmy and non-influencer channels. (Ones not in it for solely cash purposes, usually teaching something. Great example would be Technology Connections.)
