I (39M) just started going to the gym. I’m in decent shape already from other types of workouts, but wanted to step it up by using the machines they have there. The one I go to is near my house, I’m going about twice per week. It’s usually packed when I go. What I find weird is that I don’t understand the etiquette. Super hot girls there, I’m not bothering them, but I wouldn’t mind chatting if it came about naturally. There are groups of younger dudes there that seem to be friends. Don’t want to be annoying but wouldn’t mind getting to know people. Some guys my age and some older, maybe wiser. I do find it annoying that some guys will just sit on a machine and stare at their phones when I want to use it. Like please, use the machine, but don’t occupy it if you’re not working out. And it will be a lot of people a lot of the time, especially younger guys. But I don’t want to be rude and tell people that, especially since I don’t know anyone and a lot of people seem to know each other. In general I guess I’m just looking for any tips on making myself known there so I can feel free to do my thing, and also just gym etiquette so I don’t piss people off. submitted by /u/multiplesofpie
