Maybe it’s just the circles I’m in but everyone seems so opposed to AI and hoping that the AI “bubble” will burst. I’m not naive, I understand the concerns about AI and especially big tech companies but I think there’s some smaller alternatives that are perfectly acceptable. Just because certain AI companies engage in questionable practices, it doesn’t make sense to hate the entire concept. Why are people so against AI when it has the potential to reduce the amount of time we work overall and allow us to focus on our hobbies? Maybe my vision of the future is a bit too utopian but these are just a few things I look forward to:

  • reduced work hours
  • reduced car accidents / the need to drive
  • advances in medicine and science It’s much more depressing to me to think AI will fail and that in 2040 we’ll still be working 40 hour work weeks. submitted by /u/macnfly23
