working on a tool aimed at indie founders and asked myself whether to absorb AI costs in the subscription or go BYOK. went with BYOK. subscription stays lower, no margin risk, user is in full control of their own costs and models. downside is there’s an extra setup step in onboarding. you have to go get an API key and paste it in. has anyone shipped something with BYOK and found it hurt conversion? or did your target audience just get it? feeling like the dev/founder crowd is fine with it but i could be wrong. submitted by /u/AdMysterious7995
