Let me preface all this by mentioning that I am not an Ironman (although the way I play this game might suggest otherwise). I should also mention that I have only been playing for a little over a month and my combat level is 72. Onto the story. I recently completed the Ides of Milk quest mainly for the Mooletta but also so I could potentially get my first pet, Beef. After killing him 165 times, I ended up with 6 bottomless milk buckets. I wanted to know what I could do with them so I looked it up on the wiki and I saw it mentioned that you could use them to churn butter and cheese, add them onto a baked potato and you’d get a healing food that restores 16 health points, “Great!” I thought, “I’m about out of swordfish and I don’t feel like doing Temp right now so I’ll make up some of the potatoes with cheese.” Cue the lesson. I spent about 30 minutes gathering 200 potatoes outside Ardy. Before that, I milked a cow and thought that maybe for the bucket, all I had to do was milk a cow once and it was “bottomless” as the name suggested, turns out it had charges. I found that out because I went to churn butter and I could only do it a couple times before I had to refill it. So while I ate dinner and did some evening household duties, I AFK’d milking a cow until I got about 600 uses in the bucket. “That’ll last me a while” I thought. I go to churn 200 butters and that took me well over an hour. Halfway there, right? Nope. Another hour was spent churning cheese. Okay almost done, right? Nope. Then I spent another 15-20 minutes cooking those potatoes I gathered earlier, and then another 30 minutes combining all 200 butters, potatoes and cheese together in batches of 9 at a time. I did the math at the end of that riveting gameplay and found out that had I bought 200 of each ingredient myself, it would have cost me 22k at the GE. Had I just bought 200 of the finished product, it would have cost me 29k. All that to say, I spent about 4 hours making 200 potatoes with cheese and saved 29k GP. The experience I gained here was “I am not an Ironman account. I can do/earn so much more xp/money with that same amount of time” but instead I leveled up cooking from 57 to 59. TLDR; just buy your food from the GE if you’re not an Ironman. No reason to make it all yourself. submitted by /u/AgentOrange2814
