Examples Who I voted for? If I’ve ever cheated on an ex? Body count? Sexual history? Things that are polarizing for too many when they have no reason to be. Where the truth or the lie are both utterly meaningless in defining who I am, but not to them. So I lie because their knee jerk response will derail the whole thing and we’ll spend the next 30 to 45 minutes trying to get back to something that actually matters. It’s a waste so I have no reservations about protecting them from getting lost n there own feelings. The real answer just feels like I’m giving them a loaded gun knowing their going to shoot themselves in the foot with it. It also feels a bit like babying them and an overstep to take away their right to sabotage themselves if they want to. I started this after I was honest with a decades old friend about who I voted for. He ended things right there. Then another time an ex asked if I had cheated before. When I said yes, once freshmen year of college 21 years ago she reacted as of I had cheated on her and after telling me how disappointed in me she was went and slept on the couch. submitted by /u/Few-Opportunity-5196
