Hey, I’m a woman who grew up in a very healthy household with both parents present so I don’t really have experience around father abandonment. Recently I liked someone who told me his dad abandoned him and he’s never met him. We don’t talk often but when we do he’s very open and says really heartfelt things like I make him happy and he’s never met someone like me. At the same time, he can struggle with consistency or following through on things he says. I’m genuinely trying to understand. For men who grew up without a father, how did it affect you emotionally or in relationships? Did it make commitment, trust or consistency harder for you? submitted by /u/Creative-Flatworm767
