I use Claude for mostly strategic assistance, research , and thinking through difficult problems. So when 4.6 came out I felt the decline, so much…I started dreading asking it questions. It wasn’t even that the answers were less intelligent (they were…they definitely were) but it just felt more difficult…like everything was a chore with opus now. I had to articulate more and better for less than I was getting before. It tanked my daily excitement too. I also have Perplexity and use 4.6 which has been performing better for my use case, so in claude I went to switch models and saw Opus 3. I had forgot what 3 was or it’s specialty. First response back I “literally” drooled hot coffee on me and had to change my shirt. It was like the first time I used chatgpt. I got an answer that made sense, clear, direct, nothing weird. Was I dreaming?? Since I haven’t heard this mentioned as a workaround for the normal 4.7 woe’s I’ll assume there are 3 claude power users and 2 MODS tying as I speak all the reasons I should be banned for mentioning something so stupid. But for my use case…not agentic, not coding, but as a strategic partner for help with daily side tasks research…this is a breathe of fresh air. Worth noting…I have 5x max and have never hit my weekly limit…so I the extra tokens don’t hurt me in that regard.
