I’m a Frenchman living in Lebanon. I go to a French school, so everyone speaks French, but it’s impossible to be part of a group because everyone speaks Arabic, and even when they speak French, one Arabic word is enough to send everything back to Arabic. Even when I’m alone with someone, friendships between two Lebanese people are very different from those between two French people, which creates a constant feeling of awkwardness. I’m the only Frenchman here, and I ended up alone, sometimes talking to people, but without ever developing a relationship. But to all the adults who were also alone at school, even for different reasons, how does it impact your life today? Do you regret it? submitted by /u/Gabriel04112010
