Are there any programs that are known to cause false positive macro bans? My fellow group iron member / irl friend / new player recently got hit with a 3 day ban for “bot busting moderate”. He’s paranoid to play now because he doesn’t know what triggered it or how to prevent it again, and another ban would be permanent. Possible causes we’ve considered: He’s played from work using Bluestacks, he has a foot pedal that he tried one time to see if worked (still a 1:1 input so should be fine from what I’ve read), he has a couple popular programs on his pc that have the ability to create macros, ghub and stream labs, but hasn’t used anything related to RuneScape with those. All seem fine from what we’ve read but not sure what else it could be. He hasn’t done any bot-like grinds, has pretty balanced stats, around 1500 total and highest skill is 80 mining. Our group created these GIM accounts in October 2025 so they are still relatively fresh. We all play casually and I am extremely confident that he did not bot; we all play for fun and enjoy the grinds,he has no reason to lie or cheat. I’d be willing to bet my 6k hour main that it was a false ban, but it’s extremely frustrating not being able to find out what caused it or how to prevent it again. It makes it scary to continue playing while hoping something doesn’t trigger it again and cause a permanent ban. His first appeal was denied but he’s going to try the second appeal, but they are generic automated responses. I understand the first response to these types of threads are assuming people are lying to get out of bot bans, but I promise this can happen to anyone. Just hoping to get some insight if anyone else has faced a similar issue or has any advice. Thanks! submitted by /u/CallOfRudy
