I was just thinking how probably the best thing that my parents did for me was push me into sports, “force” me to do manual labor around the house a lot (helping my dad move buckets of busted concrete, mowing the lawn with a non-automatic push mower, etc.) and making us eat healthy (home cooked meals were 99% of the food, all dinners had like a salad and a wheat item to go along with the protein, snacks were minimal and it was never Doritos, it was cashews and stuff like that! And we didn’t even have koolaid, it was those condensed blocks of juice that you have to stir for 45mins to break down, that’s how I got my boulder shoulders lol). So with minimal effort at the gym and dieting, I’ve still been generally fit and healthy all my life, and I really think it stems from being built into a healthy young person those first 18 years of my life! Nowadays kids seem way more happy to play video games (I gamed growing up to, but online gaming really wasn’t a thing so I had to get out of the house to go have like a halo party at a buddies, running our LAN cables through the vents and crap!) also, I think participation in youth sports are down. And now people seem busier and home cooking is no longer the cheaper option. So I’m wondering are you finding extra difficult to motivate your kids, and what “different” things are you doing to make sure your kids stay fit and healthy? submitted by /u/Aggressive-Dot1944
