Photo is from the movie, “Titanic,” where the mother tells her children a fairy tale as they—by virtue of being in steerage, and not up top with the rich folk—sink to their deaths. For us in /r/ArtificialIntelligence , the claim that billionaires are going to freely fund some massive UBI program from their own pockets is ludicrous. Further, with their activities not being taxed at any reasonable level, we also cannot count on governments to set up such a program. Hell, they’re already cutting healthcare and food programs for children because they would rather spend it on tax cuts for their pals. So, much like this mother’s attempt to calm her children as certain death was coming, we’re telling ourselves there will be UBI when, in fact, we’re all more likely to starve to death. submitted by /u/winelover08816
