Ordinarily, I’d have no issue asking this man out, but I know the gym is a challenging place. It’s our therapy, and somewhat of a sacred space. There’s a man I see probably 4x a week in the early mornings. We do different things, and are both embedded in our routines, so making conversation is challenging unless I randomly just approach him. But we see each other in passing, walking around, doing our own things, etc on a regular basis. Sometimes I feel like we’ve shared prolonged eye contact and smiles, and sometimes nothing - though we both seem on the introverted side. So I’ve thought about just going straight up to him and asking him out for coffee or a walk - and communicating that if he’s not interested, that’s totally fine too. I do think I’m older - but in good shape. I just don’t want to be a weirdo or creepy old lady. Would you feel awkward? Uncomfortable if you still ran into this person regularly? I know men have concerns about approaching women at the gym… but if a woman shoots her shot at the gym… would you be weirded out? submitted by /u/cartrun666
