I was talking with my cousin the other day, another dude, and he mentioned that he helped pay for his girlfriends car repair. It sort of came out of the blue and it was around $700. He said something at the end that I thought it was interesting, that they’ve been together for just under a year so it felt right. He is a simple engineering and makes pretty good money so I don’t think it was that much of a attack on his bank account. I know that there is sort of a cultural understanding that men in a straight relationship often have to pay for XYZ. But I was interested that he put a time requirement. So for the men, how long in relationship would you want to be before you would help out your girlfriend with a sort of financial assistance? Or is it just common to pay for these sort of things? For women, your thoughts on this cultural view that men often pay for not just dates but other life expenses? submitted by /u/Numbery7653
