a pattern showed up in my last month of claude code sessions. short ones (under 30 min, single file edits) feel like a 3-5x speedup. medium ones (1-2 hours, refactor across a few files) feel like maybe 1.5x. long ones (half day plus) feel like i’d have been faster going manual. 55 sessions logged. the long ones cost me an average of 22 extra minutes vs my own estimate of what manual would have taken. something about the back-and-forth at the 2-hour mark stops adding value. maybe it’s context drift. maybe it’s me re-explaining things three times. probably both. is anyone else logging this kind of data on themselves? where’s your inflection point? submitted by /u/Independent-Date393
