Living in Bern and I randomly found out that there’s currently a 2-month Half Fare trial for CHF 33 (CHF 19 if you’re under 25). I actually went to an SBB counter this week because I assumed there had to be some catch or hidden condition, but it worked without any issues. From what I understood, it works for most public transport included in the Half Fare system, so trains, boats, PostAuto and many mountain railways/cable cars as well. Another nice thing: if you later decide to upgrade to a normal annual Half Fare card, the amount you already paid gets credited towards it. Seems pretty useful for summer hiking, lake trips or weekend travel around Switzerland if you don’t already have a Half Fare card.Apparently no membership needed either.
