Living in Bern and I randomly found out that there’s currently a 2-month Half Fare trial for CHF 33 (CHF 19 if you’re under 25). I actually went to a counter this week because I assumed there had to be some catch or hidden condition, but it worked without any issues. From what I understood, it works for most public transport included in the Half Fare system, so trains, boats, PostAuto and many mountain railways/cable cars as well. Seems pretty useful for summer hiking, lake trips or weekend travel around Switzerland if you don’t already have a Half Fare card. Another nice thing: if you later decide to upgrade to a normal annual Half Fare card, the amount you already paid gets credited towards it. Apparently no membership needed either.
