Mine was my appearance overall, but two things specifically. First, the shoes. I’d been wearing the same beaten-up pair for longer than I’ll ever admit out loud. Nothing flashy, just clean. With my first real paycheck, I walked into a store and bought a proper pair. Mine . Second, my hair. I used to be rough with it, honestly. Just kept an afro, not a styled, intentional afro, but the kind of low-maintenance that’s born from not knowing what else to do. But that first paycheck changed something. I actually researched barbershops. Found a barber with a portfolio I liked. Booked an appointment, didn’t just walk in hoping for the best. Sat in that chair and told him exactly what I wanted. A clean fade. Walked out feeling like I owned the streets, bro. The shoes and the hair, the same week! Curious what it was for other guys. Shoes, haircut, clothes? Or something small nobody noticed except you? submitted by /u/Bigstepper_11
