I’m looking for recommendations towards getting new corrective (I’m mildly near-sighted) glasses made. I use them for mountainbiking, motorcycling (on and offroad) and so they on occasion get hit by bugs, twigs, mud … The problem: My old glasses were about 6 years old, and so I was overdue for a check-up. I had my eyesight tested at a welknown seller whose name starts with “F”, and had them make me a new set of glasses. During the consultation, I stressed that I needed them impact resistant (i.e. should not shatter) and as scratch-resistant as possible. 6 months later, I’m back to wearing my old glasses. The glasses I got from “F” scratched up and collected damage within 3 months, I had them replaced, and 3 months later they’re again in a worse state than the glasses I used for 6 years. This is despite never dropping them, and storing them overnight in the case provided by “F”. “F” says there’s nothing that can be done to mitigate this, and that I must’ve just gotten lucky with my old glasses. The old glasses actually fell off my motorcycle at speed once (left them on the pillion), and yet still they are in better shape. So now I’m looking to have yet another new pair made, and I’m looking for recommendations. Has anyone had better luck putting another seller’s glasses through a bit of use and abuse? submitted by /u/ShelterQueen325
