I’m smart enough to know women hate being called ‘ma’am,’ but I’ve always defaulted to ‘sir’ when I interact with any man at all whose name I don’t know. I view it as a sign of respect, personally. If it’s relevant at all, I’m a young woman. To restate the question: how do you feel about being called ‘sir,’ and if it’s negatively, what would you rather be called? submitted by /u/DumbFeralRaccoon
