Reports of Microsoft, Uber, and other tech giants cutting back on token costs because “productivity growth doesn’t justify it” don’t make it a universal truth. It simply highlights a major gap: most companies haven’t actually learned how to optimize their development based on a cost-to-quality ratio. They throw brute-force context at the most expensive models and wonder why the ROI isn’t there. Restricting token usage at the individual developer level isn’t a setback.
