Tried to use 4.8 with standard high effort settings for first time in Claude code. I had high hopes but so far it took 10+ minutes on extremely basic tasks and ultimately seemed “stuck” thinking. I reduced effort to medium and changed to 1M context window and still had the issue. 10+ minutes on very basic tasks. Switched to 4.7 1M context with extra thinking and it’s nice and fast and getting it done in less than 1 minute. Absolutely do not need this extreme level of thinking that 4.8 does and am wondering if anybody else is having this issue where it’s getting “stuck” and taking 10+ minutes for basic tasks. Just frustrated because 4.7 was actually working for us and 4.8 is a step down in terms of actual productivity. If it takes hours to do something 4.7 can do in like 30 minutes, what is the point? Maybe there working on this but it seems 4.8 is getting “lost in the sauce”. submitted by /u/Celac242
