I’ve been trying to pinpoint why the context setup step bothers me specifically, because it’s not particularly difficult. Copying and pasting isn’t hard. The feeling is more like: I’m doing work that shouldn’t exist. The information I’m transferring is already there, on my screen. I’m not adding anything by copying it over. I’m just doing a translation step that only exists because the tool and the work are in separate places. When I paste a document into a chat and type ““summarize this””, I feel like I’m filing a form to get help with something that’s already in front of both of us. Compare this to asking a colleague to look at something. They look. You ask. No translation step. Does this specific feeling, not tedium exactly, more like pointlessness, resonate with anyone else, or do most people just experience context setup as a neutral cost of using the tools? submitted by /u/Sai_Abhinav
