I have a private max subscription, but our work places also happens to provide max to everyone at our company. I don’t really notice a quality difference in the output between the two, but one thing that has a staggering difference is the response times. At work, initial interactions are always nearly instant - I type a prompt, claude will usually respond almost immediately at least with the opening lines to launch its investigation. At home, it regularly happens that claude doesn’t respond for minutes on end and only then starts. Subsequent work after that can take some time depending on the workload of course, but even that seems significantly faster at work. I’m not sure I ever had a task that took more than 15 minutes to complete, while at home I’ve had a few take more than 30 minutes for small to medium sized work. I’ve had hundreds of conversations now including small to medium sized features, but I don’t do giga prompts like ‘write me this kind of app’ or anything crazy like that. Anyone else notice something similar? I wonder:
- Is the actual work PC performance a relevant factor here? I have quite beefy setups in both cases, but my work machine is an actual beast, my home PC is merely ‘pretty good’ (normal gaming PC).
- Could there be organization-wide settings that I haven’t set up in my private account that make a difference? submitted by /u/gleedblanco
