I’m looking into getting into the maritime industry and want to know what it’s actually like being a Black man working as a merchant mariner / commercial sailor. I tried searching on TikTok for answers, but mostly Black girls popped up and that’s not good enough for the specific perspective I’m looking for. For the guys out there doing this work: How is the day-to-day experience on the ships? Are the benefits good? What should I expect going into it? Appreciate any insight you guys can give me. submitted by /u/purplecheetah25
