Back in the day, pretty much all bosses on release were group content. People grouped up for godwars, corp, kq, nex, kbd and even dagganoth kings. Solo was not feasible for majority of the bosses like it is today. Grouping up for bosses was definitely the design philosophy by jagex back then. awkward 11 year olds like myself had no issue forming teams and all we really had was pinned boss posts on the forums to form those teams. Now in 2026 we are all adults and have access to a in game clan system (did not exist for a lot of the bosses i mentioned) and things like discord which makes forming teams even easier. 99% of content today can be soloed because of power creep, plugins, better access to information (in depth youtube guides, S tier wiki, dps calcs etc) Tob is a great example of modern group content done right because it introduces a lot of depth that you otherwise could not have in a solo encounter. Teamwork based mechanics have so much potential for fun and engaging gameplay. And it goes back to the roots of the game where players would group up for pvm and be social. “Group” content like TOA/yama/royal titans just doesn’t hit the same because its essentially everyone soloing the boss as a group. For some bosses like ahka in TOA its even worse because you have just one person actually engaging with the boss while everyone is afk in a corner for majority of the fight. What do you guys think? Is it time for jagex to go back to their roots? Do we need more instanced solo fights or more group based content that requires teamwork? Let me know submitted by /u/Wise-Sundae-3350
