Ever since Opus 4.5, Anthropic basically cornered the market. Until then, you had many options for coding assistants/agents and different combinations of harnesses and LLMs: cursor/cline/gemini/codex, and Claude Code was another very good option. When Opus 4.5 came out, everything changed. Anyone not working with Claude Code was missing out on the best tool on the market for software development. All this was true until Opus 4.8. Too much bureaucracy and red tape is blocking an excellent model and harness. I had to downgrade to 4.7 immediately, and shifting more and more to using Codex. I really hope this is temporary and Anthropic get their act together soon. submitted by /u/yibers
