Looks like their drives got encrypted, they seriously downplayed it, “we paid a small amount” and then not disclosing how much. Makes you wonder why they had anything important not air gapped or if an employee was knowingly or unknowingly compromised. Classic tactic is “dropping” a USB stick around and hoping some employee plugs it in. At minimum keep an air gapped backup so next time your network drives get encrypted you can tell the culprit to go eat a bag of dicks.
