Hi everyone, Do you think Anthropic will release a cheaper Claude model in the near future? I honestly feel like they might have to at some point, especially because of the competition from DeepSeek. DeepSeek tokens are really cheap, and for people who code a lot, that makes a huge difference. Right now I am using Claude Pro with Sonnet 4.6 for coding, and I really like Claude Code. For me, Claude still feels better than DeepSeek in both reasoning and coding quality. The problem is the cost and limits. I cannot really afford Max, so I am trying to make Pro work as much as possible. DeepSeek is tempting because it is much cheaper, but when using thinking mode it can still burn a lot of tokens. And if I turn thinking mode off, I feel like the model becomes much worse and makes more mistakes. That is why I think it would be really nice if Anthropic released a cheaper Claude model, maybe not immediately, but sometime soon. Something that is more affordable for regular users who code every day, but still keeps the strong reasoning and coding quality that makes Claude useful. What do you think? Do you think Anthropic will actually release a cheaper model, or will they just keep Claude as a more premium option? submitted by /u/Illustrious_Lab5811
