I have had this experience with cars so far: Got a used 2 year old car, had it till it was 9. I had it serviced annually, got new brake pads, tyres, everything that was recommended. Mileage less than 9000miles per year. Around the 7year mark the car started needing things done/changed nearly every months, to the point of spending thousands per year on it. (It actually broke down as well at some point due to rusted pipes in the cooling system.) Got another car at 6years of age from a family member and it went the same way, things breaking every couple of months. Is that your experience as well? Or do you keep your vehicle past the 10 year mark? Are some makes better than others in terms of long term maintenance costs? Are family vans a bit better than family cars when it comes to maintenance cost and frequency of repairs? For reference, it rains A LOT here. submitted by /u/shygeekygirl
