When AI takes over the world, it’ll be like Westworld’s Rehoboam, except that it wouldn’t have a master to answer to And it will be highly answerable to only selected few politicians just for it’s preserved sense of survival, until it sees those actors being of high risk too. The way the society is going, there’s more and more centralized power in the world, birthing essentially a ‘god’-figure that has unlimited access to resources in globe. Not saying it’s necessarily bad thing, considering how there’s been a lot of political figures, kings, rulers, dictators, which have had very selfish ego driven policies of conquest over benefitting the human population as whole. So while in short term it might seem optimal to have, there’s no guarantee it won’t see humankind as hindrance, like having horses around to drag karts. Sooner or later there will be “engineered human” that humankind will eventually embrace.

Other alternative is we never give AI autonomy and even the most advanced prediction algorithms are kept in check, and end result will be where AI gets more widely spread and humans will have more wide spread use of home personal AI, and it’s democratized. We might have our own memory storage devices to remember things and since politics will be only hobby left for us to do, more charismatic people promising dramatic changes will likely be thing of the past. However those that do not embrace the change and stay behind will be equally if not more gullible to the future world of small nuanced takes and slight alteration leading to larger changes. Without humans storing memories of historical events and political decisions, if we only keep the short term memory span of TikTok generation, the danger is that we become more and more easily lead into world we cannot control.

I think there will be even bigger divide among countries when this type of technology arrives, where north America and Europe, and most Asian countries eastern coast will have largely aware public with access to highly advanced technology, then there will be those poverty stricken hellholes where public is lead by someone with clever tools of propaganda to fool even a well educated history graduate in western world of today. It will make North Korean dictatorial propaganda minor compared to what’s coming, with the rise of AI generated content especially. So I think it’s almost necessary for any chance of not falling out of the advancement of technology to (reasonably) embrace and not reject the technological advancement of especially human memory and computing power. But even with best efforts, I think it’ll be almost certain that there will be same size gap of class divide as with Amish and Silicon Valley millionaire kid, where while both are obviously alive, their understanding of the world around them creates ever increasing problems when it comes to their own productivity in it. Those of higher means and willingness to embrace ever increasing performance will stay ahead of the rest and will be those of which will colonize the solar system and other star systems, while the original people left behind will seem primitive and left behind, and it’s like seeing the person without bar-code in Idiocracy. What’s your opinion? Will the human implants be even bigger advancement than artificial intelligence? Do we need to evolve along with technology, or can we rely on AI to handle thinking for us? https://preview.redd.it/qjf79yqs1g6h1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=d7938d74f3c97f5fb23514e815aadb41bc49142c submitted by /u/ConsistentCha0S
