The restriction applies to users outside the country and foreign national Anthropic employees. Following the order received on June 12 at 5:21 PM, Anthropic disabled both models for all customers. Access to other Anthropic models remains unaffected. The company believes the directive stems from a narrow method of bypassing Fable 5 safeguards. Anthropic complies with the legal order but disagrees with the decision to recall a commercial model over a narrow bypass. CEO Dario Amodei states that the government should block unsafe systems through a transparent, technical process, which this action fails to follow.
