Had Opus audit all my Fable chats, and re-ran some prompts against Opus 4.8, from the same code commits, to distill an instruction set from diffing / pattern matching. I also folded in the findings this author had: https://simonwillison.net/2026/Jun/11/fable-is-relentlessly-proactive/ Paste at the end of your CLAUDE.md (and start a new session) V1: https://github.com/sgup/ai/blob/e85e2d64285b193f127d10cd348bb1f75033ec59/Fable5.md (Tests show improved execution) V2: https://github.com/sgup/ai/blob/2d4dc472f77fc56c995765a09d5b64996c06d30b/Fable5.md (Still testing) Obviously won’t be the true & almighty Fable, but I’m curious about your mileage. So far it seems to make Opus smarter and more proactive for me. Even if it improves output by a little bit, it would be worth it.
If you’ve tried something similar, it would be interesting to compare notes. submitted by /u/imanateater
